17 August 2016: Australian Financial Review publishes an article on Ignition Wealth, one of our sponsors, about a $1M investment by Barry Lambert. The article says that "Ignition Wealth is also gaining traction since in February 2015 becoming the first digitally led adviser to be granted an Australian Financial Services Licence. In June it signed a deal with Industry Fund Services, an administrator of industry super funds to provide "intra-fund" advice to members of HESTA, Vision Super and Ausfund, on issues such as what investment choice to pick."
9 August 2016: The FinanceIT@UNSW group has given some technical assistance to the project "Developing Coherent and Usable Decision Support Systems to Improve Financial Wellbeing over an Individual’s Lifecycle" led by A/Prof Anthony Asher in the UNSW Business School and funded by the Centre for International Finance and Regulation CIFR. The resulting Web application is available from draftfinplancalc.com. The application could be used by anyone wanting to plan their retirement savings and determine their need for life insurance. Readers are invited to try it out and answer questions on their experience.

25 May 2016: The winners of the Hackathon will be presenting to ANZ. An improved version of their software will be demonstrated.
4 May 2016: Fethi Rabhi gave a seminar at the INCEIF in Malaysia titled "Recent Initiatives in Software-Enabled Finance Education".
2nd of April 2016: the final day of the Hackathon was held at Michael Crouch Innovation Centre during which 8 finalist teams held out preliminary presentations and received valuable feedback from a range of mentors including the CTO of ANZ Bank Patrick Maes. We are pleased to report that FinanceIT@UNSW researchers Ali Behnaz, Xavier de Certaines and Pierre Michalowski (pictured with Carina Parisella and Patrick Maes from ANZ) won the first prize for developing a platform that enables analysts to explore from hundreds of indicators beef production and consumption patterns and perform forecasts!
22 February 2016: We are launching the ANZ data science challenge (Hackathon) in collaboration with several industry partners (IBM and Thomson Reuters). The challenge would be focused on big data analytics particularly in analysing economic data. There will be several industry presentations in coming weeks. Final demos will be held on 2nd April 2016.
